Amazon's FBA service offers many advantages over in-house logistics. However, sending your products to Amazon to store and ship them via the "Fulfillment by Amazon" service is still necessary. This step is highly regulated, and it is crucial that you carefully follow Amazon's guidelines when you ship to Amazon FBA. You will be charged additional fees if your products arrive at Amazon's distribution center mislabeled or with incorrect packaging.
So, how do we ship products to Amazon FBA? In this article, we explain everything you need to know.

How to Send Products to Amazon FBA Warehouse?

To make the shipment to Amazon warehouses, we must first indicate that Amazon will be in charge of the logistics of that product. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to ship products to Amazon FBA:

Step 1. Select the Product

Access your inventory, and find your listing in the Manage Inventory section. Choose the drop-down menu on the right-hand side that reads “Edit” and click “Send/Replenish Inventory.”

Step 2. Select the Address

Here, you must select the address from which the products will be picked. If you store your products at home or your company, enter that address. Then, you’ll have two options to choose from:

  • Individual products – for multiple products with different SKUs or conditions (new, used, etc.)
  • Case-packed products – for a shipment that consists of one SKU. If you choose this option, you can enter the number of cases and units per case for each SKU in the shipment.

After choosing the right option, click “Continue to shipping plan.”

Step 3. Enter the Number of Units

Here, you have to enter the number of units of products in one case, plus the number of cases you want to ship to Amazon FBA. After entering the number of units per case and number of cases, click Continue.

Step 4. Prepping

In this step, you’ll have to choose whether or not your products need to be prepped (placed in a poly bag, labeled, or bubble-wrapped) before you ship to Amazon FBA warehouse. Select your product type from the drop-down menu, and Amazon will tell you the type of prep your product requires.

If your product is not included in the drop-down menu, it won’t need prepping. If you don’t have the supplies to prep the products, you can have Amazon do it for a fee.

Step 5. Labeling

Labeling products to send to Amazon inventories.

Here, you must choose how your products are labeled. If they require an Amazon (FNSKU) barcode, you can choose to apply them yourself or have Amazon do it for you.

If you do it yourself, enter the number of labels to print and choose “Print labels for this page.” You can use address label sheets to peel and stick the labels onto each product.

In certain circumstances, such as selling retail/online arbitrage products that already have a barcode on the packaging, you may need to use the manufacturer’s barcode. Take a look at your FNSKU under “Product Name” in this section and continue according to the following points:

  • If your FNSKU begins with “X00”, label the products using the Amazon barcode.
  • If your FNSKU begins with “B00”, use the manufacturer’s barcode.

Step 6. Shipment Destination

In this step, you’ll discover where your products will be shipped. Amazon chooses the destination based on demand across the country, and your inbound shipment settings are on “Distributed Inventory Placement” by default. This means Amazon may split your shipment up to be sent to different warehouses across the country. But what if you want to choose the ship to Amazon FBA destination yourself?

You can change your FBA shipment settings in Seller Central so that all your products will be sent to one fulfillment center. You’ll need to choose “Inventory Placement Service,” but you’ll be charged a per-unit fee.

To change the settings, go to “Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon > Inbound Settings” and edit.

Step 7. Choose Shipping Service

Finally, you must choose your shipping service and how the products will be packed. Here, you will enter your package dimensions and weight so that Amazon can calculate the price. In the next section, you must enter the units per box, the number of boxes you are shipping, the dimensions, and the weight. After entering this information, click “Calculate,” Amazon will give you the shipping cost.

After accepting the charges, choose your ship date (the date you want the boxes to be shipped) and print your labels. There must be two barcodes on the label (one is for UPS, the other is for Amazon). After completing these steps, click “Complete Shipment.”

We all know that Amazon is a giant in the eCommerce industry, but did you know they have 175 fulfillment centers globally, most based in North America and Europe? After creating your shipping plan, your products’ destinations will be automatically selected. Amazon does not allow sellers to drop off their products at fulfillment centers, so they must use UPS or FedEx to ship to Amazon FBA directly. As mentioned above, you can choose to ship all your products to one fulfillment center for a fee.

Shipping from China to Amazon fulfillment centers can be confusing, but there are many options to do it:

  • For air express, you can send the items from the factory to the warehouse using UPS, FedEx, DHL, or other services.

Whether your products are new or used, the packaging must be impeccable.

  • The products must be well insured and protected inside the cardboard boxes
  • Neither the outer nor the inner packaging must be damaged

How Much Does It Cost to Ship Products to Amazon FBA Warehouse?

We cannot definitively answer this question because many variables are involved. You can check the status of your shipment in the Amazon Seller Central under Shipping Queue.

Final Thoughts
